FAQ GraphicQ:  Does COAP look at and analyze the legal aspects of a case submitted?

Answer:  No. That’s your job solely. COAP assumes the legal work is finished when it comes to us. If hired to edit, however, COAP will make note that an item may benefit from a legal reference that “appears” to be absent.

Q:  How much time does COAP need to perform their services?

Answer:  For a typical complaint, pleading or summary judgment, the COAP process is 7 to 10 days in length. Thus, COAP prefers a 10 to 14 day notice to allow for logistics, review, contracting, client teamwork, and delivery of finished product.

Q:  Why does COAP talk about 20 percent improvement in taking on clients? Is that a guarantee or a goal?

Answer:  COAP cannot and does not guarantee any outcome or percent improvement. Percent improvement ratings are merely subjective opinion of COAP reviewers. COAP believes that the meat of any case lies in the attorney’s ability to bring forth the best possible argument logic and case law — the gold nuggets. COAP simply brings even greater clarity and strength to those specific core arguments and nuggets. COAP talks internally about a 20 percent minimum improvement goal toward simplicity, clarity and subjective persuasive power. But this is simply a goal, not a guarantee. In some cases COAP cannot reach this goal. Still, COAP gives clients its appraisal–based on experience–of “percent gut level improve-ability” in every proposal that also details its planned approach. COAP clients must understand that this is nothing more than a ‘gut feel’ or ‘impression’ by reviewers. In the end, only the client attorney(s) will decide whether any approach or level of ‘subjective’ improvement will warrant a COAP subcontract.

Q:  Is COAP unique in its approach or is it just like other law firm subcontractor services?

Answer:  Lots of good legal support programs are offered around the United States. But, yes, COAP is unique in several respects. COAP intensely focuses on succinctness, clarity, simplicity, summation, and usage of unique strategic and tactical graphics in court documents and argumentation—literally putting an entire case on a single page. The result is a remarkably strengthened persuasive positioning and much easier reading for the judge—who is nearly always impressed with the end document—and with the submitting attorney.

Q:  How can COAP deliver such a unique approach?

Answer:  COAP relies on careful recruitment of senior analysts and writers with a wide breadth of experience and proven track records. COAP insists on high integrity, ethical persuasion methods that include specific skills in techniques applied at COAP. COAP also utilizes its proprietary method (“Gyroscopic MethodTM” techniques) to review, evaluate and process case submittals. This process leads to higher quality and much stronger proposals back to clients for improving case arguments.

Q:  Can’t attorneys do this kind of thing for themselves? Why have COAP do this instead?

Answer:  If an attorney had lots of extra time and skills in the graphics
arena, yes, s/he could potentially do this themselves. But to do this type
of work, they would have to sacrifice time away from their legal
arguments, research, collegial interchange discussions, etc. And most
attorneys are strong and need to be strong in other areas. Plus, COAP
does this work frequently and they are very good at it. Why not take
advantage of this so that the core work of the law firm is kept at a
maximum output where strengths are kept at the forefront?

Q:  What if I don’t like the results after contracting with COAP? What if I think it’s only half as good as proposed or unimproved?

Answer:  Again, COAP believes all its clients are entitled to hear the subjective improvement potential–even in ‘gut level’ subjective terms–before it embarks on a COAP subcontract. That’s why clients come to COAP. Moreover, while COAP trusts in their instincts, COAP will still agree to refund half of all funds to any unsatisfied client who will also agree to not use any COAP concepts or ideas in their final documents involving a current or future case.

Q:  Why do you use the word “Gyroscopic?”

Answer:  Throughout the process, our technique constantly refocuses everyone on your
target…over and over…until we hit it…like a gyroscopically guided missile.

Q:  Why do you use the term “team-generated?”

Answer:  Only a team that includes the client can produce the high quality results COAP generates.
