He also obtained his certification in e-Commerce and Web Marketing through the University of Washington Extension School.  He has multi-decade experience in getting complex concepts and ideas into a quicker, simple to read and understand form. Much of his working career has been dealing with more clearly describing products, processes and procedures, proposing and critiquing graphics for highlighting complex or key concepts, and persuading readers to action. He has a command of the English language that is impeccable and a keen eye for subtle “easy to miss” issues that can maximize communications goals. Customers and targets for his extensive project portfolio include a veritable Who’s Who in the Seattle area business world and elsewhere including Microsoft, IBM, T-Mobile, Boeing, Honeywell, Time-Warner, Disney,  Cisco Systems, Symantec, SBC, WarnerBros, Chubb, Bare Escentuals, AT&T Wireless, Datalight, iSoftStone, and others.

His core skills include all types of technical writing and editing, promotional writing, copywriting, public relations writing, intra-corporate communications, employee communications and training content development. Mr. Dixon’s media experience is also extensive and includes writing and editing website content including the use of effective graphics, user interface text, frequently asked questions, website content, online and offline help text, presentations, ad copy, press releases, white papers, a wide variety of marketing collateral, user education, documentation, tutorials, demonstration scripts and more.

Mr. Dixon has served a wide variety of industries and has obtained a breadth and depth of knowledge and know-how that is substantial in how to approach problem-solving and simplification of ideas. The industries include complex areas of communications of all types including high tech, software, hardware, mobile telecommunications, media/entertainment, aerospace, retail, manufacturing, financial, insurance, legal, healthcare, public sector, and others.

Some examples of his work include editing more than 300,000 words of MSDN articles for the IT professional audience to improve clarity, consistency, and compliance  per MSTP and other Microsoft standards. He rewrote the public-facing Microsoft Enterprise site content from widely disparate material in a dozen industry subpages to one “unified voice” throughout. He regularly obtained above 95% quality assurance scores on business-value-weighted editorial evaluations in his Microsoft work, significantly higher than contract requirements.

Mr. Dixon wrote or refined content for custom development projects, corporate site, press releases, and other promotional materials. He also created and implemented editorial standards at Resolute Solutions Corporation where he designed and developed a screen-based “tour” to promote adoption of a major Healthcare client’s website and delivered end products successfully amid challenging client demands and schedule. He provided text-content support for custom applications including user instructions, on-line help, tech references and procedures while obtaining 100 percent first-draft approvals by clients.

Presently, he serves as a corporate communicator for Intellectual Ventures in Bellevue, a new venture formation and support company founded by Nathan Myhrvold, the ex-Microsoft Chief Technology Officer. The company holds more patents than any other company worldwide. In the Invention Development Fund, Mr. Dixon helps create messages and materials to influence customer/partners involving emerging technologies in several industries.

Last, but not least, Eric Dixon is extremely creative which adds a lot to Case-On-A-Page editing where creativity is a must-have. In fact, his creativity is also seen in his private world where he is a highly accomplished pianist, lyricist, guitarist, and base player, as well as being somewhat magical with his 6th sense in musical arrangement. Eric has been married 35 years and is the father of two beautiful and talented girls–one of whom is a new Seattle attorney who just recently passed the Washington State Bar Exam.
